THE BUSINESS
 

The business was established in 1984 at 28 Church Street, Newcastle. The business owned premises is situated opposite the Local/District/Supreme Court complex in the Newcastle CBD.

NHN Investigations has built a solid reputation for providing a professional, accurate and cost effective service to our clients.

The capital injection into the company will now improve the communication with our clients, in addition to the streamlining of report preparation allowing matters to be finalised in a greater cost effective manner.

EXECUTIVES
Managing Director
 
The owner/manager of the company, Scott COOK, is the newly appointed Managing Director of the business. Scott served as a Detective Leading Senior Constable with the NSW Police Force for 14 years. Scott has investigated a number of large fraud investigations, murders (adult and child), sexual assaults (adult and child), property theft, employee theft, drug offences, and coronial matters. Scott has partaken in accounting studies and whilst in the NSW Police was used as the Fraud Investigations Officer and Senior Investigating Officer within the detectives unit. Scott has the qualifications of Diploma of Policing, Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Investigations) and Diploma in Government Investigations. Scott has gained the prestigious qualification of Diploma of Security and Risk Management from the highly recognised Australian Security Academy. Scott also has the qualification of Certificate in Security, Project and Risk Management from the Newcastle University and also holds a Masters Security licence. Scott has previously managed businesses and is extremely well qualified in business acumen. Scott and the company are members of the Institute of Mercantile Agents and the Australian Institute of Private Detectives.
 
OPERATION
 

The company operates its headquarters from Newcastle, NSW. The company operates over the entire state of New South Wales with affiliated companies throughout Australia. The company uses a distance sharing policy on country investigations and surveillance.

We are currently Treasury Managed Fund (TMF) certified, and are the preferred provider for a number of insurance companies, such as Allianz, Suncorp/GIO, and have serviced others such as QBE, CGU and Zurich to conduct all manner of investigations.

We have conducted all forms of services to companies such as BHP Billiton, Comsteel, Caltex, CIG, Brambles, CHEP, AMP, Australia Post and Government agencies such as Department of Community Services (DOCS), Local Councils and Department of Education and Training.

 CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT AND PRIVACY POLICY
 

Each employee, investigator and surveillance operative is required to sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement as part of their terms of hire. We are bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) and all other applicable state laws and codes affecting personal information. We respect your right to the privacy of all personal information held and secured by our company. All personal records and information will be collected, handled, disclosed, maintained and destroyed according to the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. We will ensure the integrity, security and relevance of all personal information maintained on clients, employees, job applicants and past employees. This policy applies to the maintenance and disclosure of personal records and details relating to all former and current clients and employees of NHN.

 
SECURITY OF INFORMATION
 

All security footage and file documents are maintained in an air-conditioned secure room on the premises. They are stored in separate storage areas in the company’s premises which are secure and air-conditioned. A daily, weekly and annual download of computer records is kept off-site. Our storage of protected information systems is in line with currently accepted practice and other industry requirements.

Our computer systems operating in the Windows XP environment are password protected. A full systems backup that is performed each day is secured off-site.

 
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
 
Our factual investigators attend relevant legal seminars and investigation courses as changes in Legislation and procedures occur.

Investigators and surveillance operatives are instructed to comply with the instructions set out in the Australian Insurance Institute Code of Practice manual.

Surveillance operatives are involved in ongoing discussion groups and information sessions to improve/enhance their capabilities and update of equipment.
